July 17 – Registration and breakfast 8:00 - 8:30 am, Conference ends at 4:30
Theme of this year’s Conference is: Educating Every Child: Skills to Teach All Children
Houston Endowment Inc. has provided funding to the University of St. Thomas (UST) to create opportunities for private schools and charter schools to do the following:
- Receive faculty/staff development
- Apply for quality improvement grants to support instruction
- Receive a year’s continuous support from a mentor at no cost to the school
Some of the topics that should be of interest are:
-
Parental Involvement
-
Community Resources
-
Grant Writing
-
Assessing Assessments
The conference will take place in Jerebeck Hall at the University of St. Thomas. There is no charge for the conference, and we will be giving college credit to participants in the full conference schedule. While this takes place during vacation for most educators, it is a wonderful opportunity to receive faculty development, and to dialogue with other schools that share some of your interests.
Shortly after the conference, schools may submit short grant proposals if they have a project that they feel would be beneficial if funding were available. Funding for these grants ranges from a few hundred to $5000 per grant. Schools may apply for more than one grant. Funding is limited to $10,000.00 per school. In addition to the grants, possibly the most beneficial part of this project, is the availability of an Instructional Consultant to assist in administrative/curricular areas.
