Clubs
The School of Education sponsors many clubs that relate to education.
Undergraduate students receive considerable information about the profession, as well as insurance for their field experiences, with a membership in ATPE (Association of Texas Professional Educators). Dr. Terry Brandt is the faculty advisor for ATPE.
Additionally, bilingual students support BESO, where they network with other bilingual education students. Dr. Ginny Rimbau is the faculty advisor for BESO.
The SOE has a chapter of the honor society Kappa Delta Pi for its students and faculty. Members of this organization receive national publications, and have an opportunity to learn from recognized experts in education. Dr. Regina Gooden is the faculty advisor for KDP.
The newest student club in the SOE is the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), which was started to encourage the sharing of scientifically proven information on exceptional child education. Students in this organization are part of the state and national CEC. And they receive several professional journals with their membership. Dr. Liz Borreca is the faculty advisor for CEC. |
