Saturday, April 12, 2008: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

It is time to submit abstracts for the upcoming Research Symposium! This information is being provided only to faculty mentors so please pass this on to your students. Abstracts should be submitted as soon as possible.

For those students wishing to be considered for the research symposium in Canada, the submission date is will be announced in January 2008 with final submissions in early February. Dates will be announced as soon as possible.

The absolute deadline for abstract submission is Friday, March 14, 2008.  NO ABSTRACTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE.  For the forth year, abstracts will be submitted using the internet.  To submit an abstract, click here.

NOTE: Abstracts submitted on disk or by hard copy will not be accepted.  Carefully follow the directions at the submission site.  Once an abstract is submitted, an email will be automatically sent to the advisor, the student and to the committee with the abstract. However, you should print a version of your final submission for your records.

YOU MUST review and verify all portions of the abstract. If there are any questions or problems, please contact Dr. Michael Colvin (colvinm@stthom.edu) as soon as possible to get any mistakes corrected. The next page contains the instructions you will find once you enter the Call for Abstracts website. These instructions are included here to draw your attention to additional changes in the procedure.

Note: All media-dependent presentations (Powerpoint, etc.) MUST be submitted to the URC Blackboard site by Monday, April 7, to be tested and loaded on presentation computers.
Participants must also bring a copy of their presentation on CD/flashdrive with them on the day of the presentation. Please have it checked by IT for viruses, etc.

If you have any problems or questions, do not hesitate to contact Dr. Michael Colvin (colvinm@stthom.edu).

Online Abstract Submission Process
  1. We are requesting abstracts from both undergraduate and graduate students. Since the symposium is now over two days, we will make every effort to accommodate time requests.
  2. Talks are limited to 15 minutes. This should translate into a 12-minute talk with 3 minutes for questions. Please see additional information about presentations in the Presentation Guidelines. Session moderators will strictly adhere to time limits.
  3. The poster session will be the last part of the program and will be held during the reception. See Presentation Guidelines for poster dimensions and other poster information.
  4. We are asking students to submit the names and addresses of one or two special people that they would like to invite. This can include, but need not be limited to, parents.
  5. Presentations requiring special AV equipment, including video players or computers MUST be indicated on the abstract form.
  6. All media-dependent presentations (Powerpoint, etc.) MUST submitted to the URC Blackboard site by March 31 to be tested and loaded on presentation computers. Participants should also bring a copy of their presentation on CD/flash drive with them on the day of the presentation.
  7. Faculty advisors/sponsors will be notified of presentation time slots by March 22, 2008. Please notify your students.
