Employee Benefits
The University of St. Thomas offers a comprehensive benefits package to its benefit-eligible employees. All eligible employees are encouraged to participate in the University section 125 pre-tax benefit plan.

Summary of Benefits
The University of St. Thomas offers three choices of medical insurance plans to its benefit-eligible staff and faculty, all of them POS.  Employees can elect in-network doctors using the Texas True Choice. Claims are submitted through FISERV. The University pays for 60% of medical premiums, including spouse, children, and family coverage.

Three health insurance options are available

The University of St. Thomas offers two choices of dental plan (DMO and PDO) through the AETNA Network.  This benefit is Free to employees. Coverage is also available for employee's spouse, children, and family.

 
The University of St. Thomas also offers these following benefits to its benefit-eligible faculty and staff
  • Free Group Life insurance in the amount of one and a half time the employee's salary to a maximum of $50,000.
  • Supplemental Life insurance in multiples of the employee's salary, up to 4 times.
  • Free Long-Term Disability insurance.
  • Free Short-term Disability insurance after one year of employment.
  • Vision Plan through the VSP network.   Employees pay for 100% of premiums.
  • Accident Insurance, Cancer Insurance, and Supplemental Short-Term Disability through AFLAC.
  • Section 125 Medical Spending Account up to $3,600.
  • Section 125 Child Care reimbursement account up to $5,000.
  • Free and discounted tuition for employees, spouse, and dependent children.
  • Matching, dollar for dollar, 403b pre-tax retirement plan up to 6% of gross pay with a wide choice of investments form TIAA-CREF, AG Edwards, or VALIC.
  • Membership in the First Educator Credit Union.
  • Paid Sick time, Vacation, Jury Duty, Holidays, and Summer Hours.
  • Free use of library and gymnasium.
