A Blue Ribbon Committee selected Jim Ketelsen, founder and chairman of Project GRAD, as winner of the 2006 Ethical Leadership in Action Award. Every two years, the University of St. Thomas presents this award in cooperation with the Greater Houston Partnership. The award recognizes a business person who has demonstrated uncommon ethical leadership and social responsibility. Past winners include George Martinez, chairman of Sterling Bank, Jack Blanton, Houston businessman and philanthropist, and Charles Miller, an investment banker whose contributions of time and expertise to higher education are innumerable.

- UST Annual Scholarship Tee-Up Golf Tourney
The 2007 Scholarship Tee Up tournament will take place on Monday, October 15, 2007 at BlackHorse Golf Club in Cypress, TX. This year’s chair person is Danny Klaes, ’85. Registration and breakfast begins at 6:30 a.m., shotgun start at 8 a.m. A lunch will be served after the tournament. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
The University’s annual Scholarship Tee-Up Tournament benefits the Fr. Francis E. Monaghan Scholarship Fund and those students who depend on it for their education. The University established the Monaghan Scholarship Fund to help deserving students attain a quality, values-based education. Since 2000, the fund has awarded more than $5 million in scholarships and grants.
