Russia is an ancient land which has been an important force in the history of Eurasia for over two thousand years. Its civilization is a rich blend of the Eurasian experience and is linked to the Byzantine and then European civilizations. Russia has in its history many periods of great triumph and periods of crisis but what has been constant since the 18th century is Russia’s significance as a major force on the world stage. Russian Studies allows a student to investigate different dimensions of the Russian experience through 2 Russian Studies Core Courses and at least 4 other Russian Studies courses selected by the student with the program advisor.
