Counseling Services
Counseling Services' (CS) mission collaborates with the UST's mission to "cultivate the life of the mind and spirit" and "prepare students to meet the global challenges which face our society".
CS recognizes that students develop intellectually, emotionally and socially during college years. Services provided by our department are directed to help students achieve educational goals, improve problem-solving skills and sharpen decision-making abilities. Services include:
- Personal counseling
- Outreach programming
- Consultations addressing such issues as:
- improving study skills
- reducing general anxiety
- family problems
- depression and
- self-esteem concerns
The goal of these services is to help students enhance their capacity for satisfying interpersonal relationships and maximize their capacity for continued emotional growth.
CS offers counseling services to currently enrolled students, as well as any member of the student's family or significant relationship that the student may wish to include in their counseling. Students initiate services with an intake interview during which the student and a CS staff member will determine how to best meet individual needs.
Our staff has a commitment to meeting the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds including issues such as culture, ethnicity, religion, gender and ability.
If a student’s concern requires specialized services or long term treatment, the student may be referred to off-campus resources. |
